Scope & Content Accession consists of the combined records of various members of the Piper Richardson statue committee, as well as photograph contributed by several photographers in attendance at the statue unveiling on Oct. 11, 2003. Records of the Piper Richardson statue committee include: Ron Denman minutes & correspondence, Dorothy Kostrzewa minutes & correspondence, W.R. Paul Ferguson minutes, correspondence, and photographs, printed program and order of service for the unveiling service, five rolls of photograph prints & negatives (four colour print & one black and white) and one set of digital images taken by Kelly Harms at the unveiling ceremony, digital images taken by W.R. Admin/Biographical History The Piper Richardson statue committee was struck to commission, plan, and oversee, the creation of a lifesize bronze sculpture to commemorate the bravery in World War I of Piper James Cleland Richardson, V.C. The committee worked diligently for 1 1/2 years prior to the unveiling on Oct. 11, 2003. The artistic services of world renowned sculptor John Barney Weaver of Silvercreek (outside of Hope, B.C.) were retained, and an impressive bronze sculpture created. Members of the committee at the time of the unveiling were: City of Chilliwack councillors Dorothy Kostrzewa and Mel Folkman. Jim Chrystal, Jack Good, Carl Brownell, Don Birdsell, Bob Elliott, Gordon C. Mitchell, Fred Feistmann, Jean Anderson, W.R. Paul Ferguson, Mike Brass, Ywe Looper, and Ron Denman.
