Samuel Calbick was born ca. 1854 in Holmsville, Ontario. Elizabeth Ann McConnell was born in 1865 in Monaghan, Ontario, to James and Ann Jane (Todd) McConnell. Samuel Calbick came to B.C. in 1877, the couple were married on December 13, 1882 in Vancouver, and moved to Chilliwack around 1892. Samuel was a carpenter, and he specialized in the moving of buildings. He was responsible for moving St. Thomas Anglican church from it's location at Five Corners to it's present location on Gore Avenue, as well as moving Carman United Church. The couple settled on a farm in the Cheam area and raised their seven children. From oldest to youngest they were: Letitia Jane Lettie (married Henry Walter Harry Swain), Mildred Catherine, Margaret Isabella, Frances Frankie Virginia, Olive, Gordon, and Willard. Samuel Calbick passed away on October 27, 1943, and Elizabeth Ann (McConnell) Calbick passed away on January 8, 1951.
