George Green was born in Yorkshire, England, September 29, 1887 and lived in the Chilliwack district for 67 years. He was a school trustee for thirty years, and a Cultus Lake Park Commissioner. During the 1920s he was active with the Sardis Parent-Teacher Association. Past President of the Chilliwack Agricultural Association and supporter of the Chilliwack fall fair and regional exhibition,. He was married to Eleda Mae Green, and together they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary in 1972. The couple had two sons, Ernest and George Jr. who was killed serving with the Royal Air Force in 1941. For 57 years he was the manager of B & K (Brackman & Ker) in Sardis. Before his retirement he was a mail carrier for ten years.
George Green and his wife Mae were Chilliwack Citizens to be recognized in 1961. Mr. Green passed away in Chilliwack April 16, 1974, aged 86 years.
