From the home of George Washington Chadsey. He lived from 1846 to 1910.
The collection of seven spoons was cased in a cedar box, with pickle tongs and a mustard jar. Each served a practical purpose in the home of George and Eliza Chadsey around 1900. George Washington Chadsey (1846-1910) arrived in the Sumas area (now Greendale) from Ontario in 1866. He married Eliza Jane Thorne in April 1870. George Chadsey was a farmer until his retirement in 1899 at which time he moved to the town of Chilliwack and became town clerk and tax collector. Chadsey became Magistrate of the county court and also the Secretary Treasurer of the Farmer's Institute.
