Oliver Charles Evans was born in Sardis, B.C., June 26, 1894 and was the son of John Allen Evans and Edna Augusta Evans (nee Chadsey). He was one of eight children. On December 21,1917 he was married to Marjorie Margaret Tait who was born in 1897 in Roseland, Louisiana, U.S.A. She passed away February 3,1972. The couple had 4 children.
Oliver Evans during his lifetime was a Grand Master of the Haney Masonic Lodge. He attended agricultural college in Ontario and became manager and husbandman of the David Spencer Farm in Haney. In addition he was the Western Jersey Fieldman for the Canadian Jersey Cattle Club and became an international authority judging Jersey Cattle in the Toronto Royal Winter Fair, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and England. He was an Honorary President of the Canadian Jersey Cattle Club and worked extensively with 4-H Clubs.
Oliver Charles Evans died in Chilliwack, 81 years of age, October 28, 1976.
Evans Elementary School was opened by he and other family members in December 1966.
