13 pages of handwritten interview notes with George Martin, an article about the Liumchin Peak wedding of Carl Wilson and Midlred Behrener, and a four sheet photocopied map entitled "Area of Timber Berth Shewreen" focused on the Chilliwack River. The notes cover topics such as the Chilliwack River, and contruction of the road to Chilliwack Lake for the Silver Chief mine in 1925, the cabin of Jack Post's son on Mt. Pierce, the Cultus Lake Riding Club, homesteading in the Columbia Valley, taking H.M Laing to Liumchin Lake in 1932, and a horseback trip to Chilliwack Lake with wife Margaret and Charles Lindeman. |

Hugh Neil Smith (April 11, 1925 – February 15, 2015) was born in New Westminster, the youngest of six children of Roscoe Wallace "Ross" Smith and Eva May (nee McAllister). Neil Smith was never married. Neil moved to the Sumas Prairie with his family c.1930 where his father was a Holstein dairy farmer at 39839 Wells Line Rd. (R.R. #4). Neil followed in his father’s footsteps working as farmer on the same property. He was an avid outdoorsman, interested in fishing, hunting, and photography. Neil was also a historian, interested in local history and families. |
