Lorna Shaw (Nee. Pearson) was a longstanding member of Chilliwack, born in approximately 1916 to the Pearson family. Shaw was the second generation of her family to attend the Sardis Elementary School. In 1940 she married Cecil Shaw and would have 2 children and adopt 1 other, Gordon in 1946, Sheri in 1949, and Marilyn, whom they adopted. Shaw would be involved at every turn with volunteerism both through the Carmen United Church she attended, as well as with a number of other organizations such as, the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) which she was a part of during the Second World War, the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) of Sardis Elementary School while her children were in attendance, the Chilliwack Museum and Historical Society, Sardis Athletic Society, as well as a number of other groups. She passed away in 2008. |
