Peter F Pirie was born in 1895 in Golden BC, he fought in the First World War and was a Major with the Westminster Regiment D. Company during the Second World War. Pirie fought in the 21st Battalion during the First World War. Following the war, he farmed on Promontory. He had a wife, named Bertha, a son Jerry, and a daughter named Jean. He died in Chilliwack, 1983. Jerry Pirie was the son of Peter, and was born in Chilliwack, 1936. He studied agriculture at UBC and in the 60s backpacked around much of the world, and his experiences defined his future direction in life. He lived as a minimalist, and grew much of his own food. He devoted some of his time to the 'Save the Farmland' movement in Chilliwack, as well as local and federal politics. He passed away at Creston, BC 2018. |
