Description |
Front view of the Murphy house on Wellington, with an unidentified family, standing on the front porch. Wood plant sidewalk visible in the foreground of image. |
Provenance |
The Murphy house at 45738 Wellington Avenue was built in 1909, and was one of several houses owned by Thomas Bartlett. The first residents were the Murphy family; H.R. Bert Murphy was a salesman for the Beatty washing machine and farm equipment company. The Murphy family lived in the house for a short time; by 1911 Peter J. Brown, the City Clerk, was the resident. The house features a prominent verandah, and unusual decorated vergeboards. |
