Provenance |
Drafting template used by employees at the Fraser Valley Regional District [FVRD]. This drafting template is a type 977 148, made by Staedtler-Mars in the United States, to draw small arrows and directional indicators. Drafting templates are stencils that allow the user to draw specific symbols and shapes that are repeatedly used in a design. By tracing around the holes, the user can quickly and accurately draw the shape required, in this instance, arrows. Staedtler Mars GmbH & Co. KG (1835 - present) is a German stationery, writing implements, and office supplies manufacturing company based in Nuremberg; the company was founded in 1835 by Johann Sebastian Staedtler (https://www.staedtler.com/intl/en/company/about-staedtler/history/). In 1900, Staedtler registered the Mars brand using the name for some lines of products including technical drawing instruments. In 1922, a US subsidiary based in New York opened followed by a Japanese subsidiary in 1926. The Fraser Valley Regional District (1995 - present) is a local government that delivers over 100 separate services to over 280,000 residents in the Fraser Valley.
