Provenance |
From the Estate of Myrtle Cantrill. Myrtle Cantrill was the daughter of Hannah Giles (1881-1970) and Frederick Cantrill (1871-1929). Myrtle was born in 1921 and attended public and high school in Chilliwack, then Normal School in Vancouver. She taught at various schools in the Chilliwack municipality and in Kitsegukla, BC. Myrtle Agnes Cantrill was the daughter of Hannah Louise (Queenie) Cantrill (nee Giles) and Frederick Charles Cantrill. Myrtle was born April 24, 1921 and they lived at Kinistino and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. During the First World War when her father was serving with the Canadian Army, Myrtle came to Chilliwack with her sisters, Rose Mary (born January 17, 1911), Floret Louise Cantrill (born June 18, 1913) and her mother. About 1926, after attending school in MacDowall, Myrtle's parents purchased five acres of land in Chilliwack and Floret was sent out to live with her grandparents who had come to Chilliwack in 1910. In 1927 the remainder of the family came to Chilliwack. Their father, Frederick "Fred" passed away April 12, 1929 and their mother in 1970. Their sister, Rose died in 1973. Add.
