Used by the donor's aunt, Mrs. Agnes Stammers at Chilliwack Elementary (Southgate location), 1913. She taught first, second and third primer (our equivalent of grades 1 - 3). The abacus was used to help slower students with learning disabilities with much success. An ancient form of calculator, the abacus can be used to perform calculations by sliding counters along rods or grooves. |
